Toronto Graffiti: The Human Behind the Wall documents more than three decades of graffiti culture in Toronto — but its significance extends well beyond the city. Many of the artists featured in the book are among the first graffiti writers in Canadian history: the pioneers who brought graffiti to Canada, developed it, and shaped it into the art form it became. Their stories have never been told in depth before. These interviews represent the first time many of them have spoken publicly about their experience, their craft, and their role in building a culture from the ground up.

Rather than presenting graffiti solely as visual art, the project focuses on the human stories behind the work — preserving perspectives from inside the culture and documenting how graffiti became a defining element of urban expression. The result is both a Toronto story and a piece of Canadian cultural history, told in the words of the people who lived it.
The book has been featured in national and international media since its first publication and continues to be referenced as a cultural record of the Toronto graffiti scene.
